Kristymarie Shipley, Associate Attorney with Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, P.L.C., volunteered March 31–April 1 as a project leader for the Bridge Program through the University of Iowa College of Law. The bridge program is designed to give prospective law students from underrepresented communities an opportunity to learn if the legal profession is the right choice for them. Kristymarie Shipley constructed a fictional case to lead the prospective students through. The case, based on Shipley’s real experiences, revolved around uncovering fact patters in employment law, specifically dealing with a claim in a medical practice regarding reasonable accommodations. “I loved the program and look forward to doing it again next year. I was thoroughly impressed with the mental agility with which the students picked up the analytic process,” said Shipley. The Bridge Program at Iowa Law is coordinated by Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs and Professor and Bouma Fellow in Law Emily Hughes.

Kristymarie is an Associate Attorney whose practice focuses on litigation, medical malpractice, and labor & employment. She is a multilingual lawyer originally from Caguas, Puerto Rico and fluent in Spanish.
