Attorney Mark P.A. Hudson selected to serve on the Governor’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board “Expanding Workforce” Working Group

The Expanding Workforce Working Group is charged with expanding Iowa’s workforce in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic

July 1, 2020Cedar Rapids, Iowa — Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, P.L.C. is proud to announce the selection of Attorney Mark P.A. Hudson to the Iowa Governor’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board (ERAB) Expanding Workforce Working Group. The ERAB was signed into executive order by Governor Kim Reynolds on June 18, 2020 to focus on the modernizing Iowa’s economy as well as education, health care, workforce and quality of life. The Advisory Board will serve as a central point for the state-wide coordination of post COVID-19 pandemic rebuilding and recovery, with the main objective of strengthening Iowa’s economy. In the executive order, Governor Reynolds stipulated that seven working groups be established to assist the Advisory Board in coordinating a comprehensive recovery and growth effort. The working groups include: Agriculture, Connectivity, Economic Growth, Education, Government, Publish Health and Healthcare, and Expanding Iowa’s Workforce.  The Expanding Workforce Working Group will focus attention into three specific areas with the formation of sub-committees spearheading the topics of: attraction and retention, labor participation, and workforce training. The overall charge of these sub-committees is to develop strategies to expand Iowa’s workforce, with particular attention given to improving accessibility, training, and employments opportunities to Iowa’s underserved and minority populations. The Expanding Workforce Working Group will be chaired by Beth Townsend, Director of Iowa Workforce Development.
