Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, P.L.C. Welcomes New Hires and Announces a New Office Location

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, P.L.C. is pleased to announce several new additions to its team of attorneys along with a new office location. The new team members include Matthew Roth and Ben Louviere based in the firm’s Cedar Rapids office; William “Jim” Annexstad and Laney Miller based in the firm’s Coralville office; and Martha Shaff, Jordan Kaplan, Cristy Tackett-Hunt and Reid Shepard based in the firm’s new Quad Cities office.

Matthew Roth brings to the firm five years of experience in business, commercial litigation and long-term care defense. While in law school at the University of Iowa College of Law, Matt served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Edward M. Mansfield in the Iowa Supreme Court.
Ben Louviere’s practice focuses on medical malpractice defense. Prior to joining the firm, Ben completed a two-year clerkship with the Honorable C.J. Williams in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Iowa. Ben is a 2023 alum of the University of Iowa Law School where he graduated with highest distinction.
As a former Appellate Judge and Director of Civil Litigation in the United States Air Force, Jim Annexstad brings over 25 years of complex litigation experience to the firm. Jim’s practice primarily focuses on commercial, employment and environmental litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. He also advises businesses and government agencies on a diverse array of environmental, employment and labor issues, including guiding complex internal investigations for human resources departments and senior management officials.
Laney Miller is a civil litigation attorney and a new member of the firm’s family law group. Laney is a recent graduate of the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and was a summer clerk with the firm in 2023 and 2024. While in law school, she also completed an externship with the 6th Judicial District of Iowa, clerking for Judge Kepros and Judge Bruns.
Martha Shaff’s practice focuses on civil litigation with decades of experience involving personal injury, product’s liability, and commercial, employment and construction matters. Martha is also a mediator for civil litigation disputes, including personal injury, employment and business matters. Martha is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has served as the Iowa chair of the American College. She is a past president of the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Iowa Defense Counsel.
Jordan Kaplan is an experienced business attorney whose practice focuses on estate planning, probate and trust administration, probate and trust litigation, general business matters, and real estate. Jordan is a member of the Quad Cities Estate Planning Council and a past president of the Scott County Bar Association.
Reid Shepard’s practice focuses on estate planning, probate and general business matters. Reid attended the University of Iowa College of Law where he was an editor on the Iowa Law Review. Prior to joining the firm, he was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Judge Amanda Potterfield and then Paul B. Ahlers on the Iowa Court of Appeals.
Cristy Tackett-Hunt joins the firm as of-counsel with more than 25 years of experience. Cristy’s work as a tax consultant for an international accounting firm and as in-house counsel for a private trust company provided the foundation for her estate planning, probate, trust administration and business law practice. She is serving as a bridge for her longstanding private practice clients as their matters transition to colleagues in the firm. Cristy also serves as general counsel for a healthcare services company.
The addition of Martha Shaff, Jordan Kaplan, Cristy Tackett-Hunt and Reid Shepard coincides with the firm’s expansion to the Quad Cities where the firm has opened a new Davenport office to serve both the Iowa and Illinois markets. The firm’s Davenport office is operating in temporary space at 1900 E. 54th Street in Davenport. Details regarding the firm’s permanent space in the Quad Cities will be released in the coming months. This is the firm’s fourth fully staffed office with other primary locations in Cedar Rapids, Coralville, and Waterloo.
