Jim is a former Appellate Judge and Director of Civil Litigation in the United States Air Force. He brings to Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, P.L.C. over 25 years of complex litigation experience. His practice primarily focuses on commercial, employment and environmental litigation in both state and federal courts, and before numerous local, state and federal administrative agencies. He is also skilled in providing legal advice to business and government agencies on a diverse array of environmental, employment and labor issues. Additionally, his experience includes guiding complex internal investigations for human resources departments and senior management officials.
As a former federal prosecutor and defense counsel, Jim has led trial teams throughout the United States, with over 50 cases reaching verdict. He has also spent two years as an instructor at The Air Force Judge Advocate General’s School, teaching trial practice and advocacy to military attorneys from all branches of service. He dedicates a portion of his practice to white collar defense and investigations, as well as court-martial defense and appeals. Jim is admitted to practice law in the State of Iowa, The Court of Appeals of the Armed Forces, and The Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals.
