Cristy Tackett-Hunt is of counsel to Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, PLC, where she supports the thoughtful transition of her longstanding private practice client relationships to firm colleagues and provides continuity of counsel for existing clients. Earlier in her career, Cristy served as a managing member of Betty, Neuman & McMahon, PLC, as principal of her own firm, as in-house counsel to a private trust company and personal legal counsel to its high net-worth clients, and as a tax consultant for an international accounting firm.
Cristy’s private practice focused on helping families and business owners preserve, protect, and transfer their wealth through thoughtful estate planning and business structuring. In her estate planning work, Cristy advised individuals and families as well as professionals at all stages of their careers. She worked collaboratively with clients and their trusted advisors to tailor estate and asset protection plans designed to achieve client goals while minimizing risk. She counseled fiduciaries – including trustees and executors – on trust and estate administration.
Cristy’s also advised individuals on pre- and post-marital agreements, assisted business owners with succession planning matters such as buy-sell agreements, and supported clients on related business and corporate matters. Her experience includes advising closely held businesses across their lifecycle, from entity selection and formation to governance matters, owner and shareholder agreements, business transactions and dissolutions and the structuring and negotiation of service and commercial agreements.
