Tim Klima is a registered patent attorney and senior vice president at Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, P.L.C. Tim maintained an intellectual property law practice in Washington, DC for 20 years and was formerly a partner with an Am Law 100 firm before returning to Iowa and joining Shuttleworth & Ingersoll in 2009. He concentrates on general IP counseling, US/international patent procurement and opinions, trademarks, copyrights, licensing of technology, protection of trade secrets, and IP related employment issues. Tim represents a wide variety of clients ranging from large multinational corporations through small businesses and startup companies to independent inventors. He has helped his clients obtain more than 1800 patents and has litigated patents, trade secrets and technology licenses. He has also published and lectured on those topics. Tim is experienced in mechanical, electromechanical, chemical engineering and biomechanical technologies and more specifically, has worked extensively in the aerospace, automotive, food processing, manufacturing, material handling, packaging, machine tools and biomedical fields, as well as others. He worked as an engineer for a Fortune 500 manufacturing company before entering law school.
